July 2013.

Newport Beach Councilwoman Nancy Gardner once told me about a very interesting aspect of her job.

She described how, in the city, little brushfires of resident concern are always popping up. How she and the rest of the City Council handle each of these iswhether they have a happy resident or create an activist.

And if the activist is ignored or brushed off, then the fire grows and you’ve created a movement.

Normally a movement won’t change the city too much, especially since we have had basically the same council for nearly a decade.

But couple discontent with a council election with three open seats – and Rush Hill up for re-election – and reading through the list of candidates for the 2014 vote could prove daunting.

A ROGUE STAFF OR CALCULATED CAMPAIGN OF DECEPTION AT CITY HALL?

Last week every resident and business in Newport Beach began receiving the City Manager’s July 2013 Newsletter. (view the newsletter here – pay special attention to page 4)

The propaganda is a taxpayer funded (you) mailer they use to sway public opinion.  It’s thinly masked as public information of selective information designed to make them look good, and spin information to the benefit of the bureaucrats.

For example, in the newsletter Kiff talks about city employees now paying “up to $5 million” of their retirement contribution.  Sounds pretty good.   Kiff doesn’t tell you that taxpayers (you) have been paying BOTH the employer  and city employee’s retirement share for decades.  Translation – taxpayers pay both sides of the retirement costs for our public employees.  And we have more employees per capita than any city in Orange County.  Does your employer pay both the employer and employee share of Social Security?

IT’S TIME TO TELL CITY HALL WHAT YOU THINK
